We have finished our Chapter Reboot and have closed out the year having had three meetings. We have some new volunteers to assist with the Board in 2020 and beyond and the Chapter is well-positioned to continue to be the go-to organization for employee benefits in the Tampa area.
Thank you to everyone who attended a program this year. Unfortunately, I found out too late in the year that those who register for a program are not automatically included in future mailings. Therefore some of you did not receive the invitations for programs after one you attended. I sincerely apologize for that oversight. We will do a better job adding all registrants to our distribution list for future communications. I hope that this oversight does not diminish your interest in the Chapter and our local meetings.
The 2020 Board of Directors for the Tampa Chapter are:
Continuing to expand on the Community of Benefits Professionals concept by hosting 2 to 3 in-person educational programs geared to experienced benefits professionals
Expanding our outreach to those new to the benefits profession by offering a Benefits Fundamentals class in the Spring
Increasing our Social Media presence with the help of Kate Grooms, [email protected].
Hosting a year-end celebration
For members, providing access to monthly webcasts through the Chapter Webinar Coalition
Tampa Chapter Website – we do have a local Chapter website. Please bookmark this site and check back periodically for updates. Our programs will be announced on this site as well as other benefits information that may be of interest.
Membership – our programs will continue to be open to members and non-members. We want the Chapter to be a true Community of Benefits Professionals for the Tampa area and want to be as inclusive as possible. However, as a Society and Chapter member, you have access to many more opportunities for continued education and networking beyond the in-person Chapter meetings.
If you have earned the Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS), Compensation Management Specialist (CMS), Group Benefits Associate (GBA), Retirement Plans Associate (RPA) designations, or are a CEBS student, take advantage of the services available to you through ISCEBS . For those not eligible to join the Society and Chapter, I would encourage you to look into joining the Foundation. The prior link provides information on Foundation membership as well as Society/Local Chapter membership. Join the Society and Chapter (or Foundation) to continue to support our community of benefits professionals.
Health Benefits Conference and Expo (HBCE) – here is a chance to attend a benefits conference in your own backyard. This conference is held in Clearwater at the end of January and features a lot of great topics and speakers, including our own Board Member Paula Krupa. More information can be found here. If you do plan on attending, let Michelle and Paula know. They will be there supporting the conference with other Chapter members and would love to have you stop by and say hi.
During a recent meeting, we conducted a quick survey of those in attendance. Click here to view the questions and responses from the survey. If you want to provide input into our planning, please complete our survey here, or provide your input to one of the Board Members. All input is welcome as we plan our future activities.
The 2020 Board Members are working on finalizing a schedule of events for next year. We will share that with everyone so you know what we are working on and opportunities to assist, however, please contact any of the above Board Members in the interim if you wish to get involved immediately. In addition, we will work on finalizing dates so you can block your calendars to attend future events.
